Short-Term Running Goals:

I don't have any running goals.  In fact, since October 2010 I've been doing more strength training than running.

After dealing with some annoying injuries throughout the summer and fall and I pretty much gave up running for while.  With the new year I plan on doing more running, but I'll still be doing P90x also.

Hmmm, I take it back....I do have a couple of running related goals.  First is to put together a team to win the Law Day 5k!  After that I'll be helping Thatcher get back in shape and make the BYU team after he returns from his mission.

Personal:

50 years old, married to A'Lissa (who is faster than me) for 20+ years, 3 fantastic kids.  My son Thatcher has a blog here at fastrunningblog.com, but it is on hiatus while he serves an LDS mission (returning in May!)  In the past I operated a youth track club and I served as a volunteer assistant with the Skyline XC team.  A'Lissa and I are the race directors for the Fill the Ark 5k in East Millcreek.

Quads and calves still extremely sore from my run down Millcreek Canyon

from the cabin.  In fact, not only sore, but they felt stiff and

heavy.  Turned back before going very far, 3.4 miles total at an 8:29

pace.  The only reason I ran even that fast is that I was trying to

keep up with A'Lissa.

Easy 4.3 miles at 8:26 pace.  Ran south on 2700 East to the Peach St. house.

P.M.  Timed Thatcher in 90 flys.  I did a couple myself.  I would have done more, but it aggravated my shoulder stinger.  Ouch.

I was up too late last night and slept in a bit to maintain my sleep.

Planned on running at night, but the strength training session with the

Skyline team when longer than planned, so it didn't happen.

2700 East to Wander Lane to the end and back.  Most of this was slow, but I mixed in a couple of faster miles in the middle.  8:19 pace overall.

To Tanner Park, through Canyon Rim to Smith's and Wasatch Blvd, home past Skyline.  Most of this run was very slow, but I picked it up near the end, especially the final downhill.  8:32 pace average.

Today was the annual work day at Porter Fork, so A'Lissa decided to first start the day by running above the gate to take advantage of one of the last days the upper canyon is closed to cars.  I don't know what the deal was, but I just didn't have it today.  A'Lissa had to keep stopping to let me catch up.  Part of the problem was continued breathing trouble--I need to start taking an inhaler again before runs--but that wasn't everything.  I also just felt sort of sluggish.  Anyway, extremely slow on the way up, faster, but still not very fast on the way down, for a total average pace of 9:15.  We also cut it shorter than planned, only 5.03 miles.  Then off to help clean up Porter Fork.
