Short-Term Running Goals:

I don't have any running goals.  In fact, since October 2010 I've been doing more strength training than running.

After dealing with some annoying injuries throughout the summer and fall and I pretty much gave up running for while.  With the new year I plan on doing more running, but I'll still be doing P90x also.

Hmmm, I take it back....I do have a couple of running related goals.  First is to put together a team to win the Law Day 5k!  After that I'll be helping Thatcher get back in shape and make the BYU team after he returns from his mission.

Personal:

50 years old, married to A'Lissa (who is faster than me) for 20+ years, 3 fantastic kids.  My son Thatcher has a blog here at fastrunningblog.com, but it is on hiatus while he serves an LDS mission (returning in May!)  In the past I operated a youth track club and I served as a volunteer assistant with the Skyline XC team.  A'Lissa and I are the race directors for the Fill the Ark 5k in East Millcreek.

We are in Palm Springs for the week.  We got up early to beat the heat and did a loop around the block.  4.24 miles total, 8:08 pace.  I pushed it hard for about half a mile at the end, about a 6:15/mi pace.

Did 800m repeats with Taylor and A'Lissa on the roads in the resort.  Taylor has been planning on running the Top of Utah with her friend Taylor B., but it looks like Taylor B. is dropping out.  So, A'Lissa has volunteered to run it with her.

The planned workout was 5 x 800m, but A'Lissa and I did 4 of them, and Taylor did the fifth on her own.  3:08, 3:12, 3:08, 3:15, with 400m walking interval between each (not included in the mileage).   Total of 3.58 miles at 7:28/mi average pace.

Today we decided to get some tennis early in before it got too hot.  Played for 2 hours.  After that it was too hot to run, so I went to the fitness center and ran on the treadmill.  3 miles, plus half a mile each way to and from the tennis/fitness center for a total of about 4 miles.  8:40/mi pace.

At night I went and played more tennis with Ben and Isaac.

A'Lissa and Taylor ran 10 miles this morning, but I sat it out because my feet are thrashed from all that tennis I played yesterday in my running shoes!
